Here we are ready to talk about the 5 tips that will help you traveling better!
Those who want to travel with only cabin luggage, either for logistical reasons or to save some money, are often faced with some constraints. Namely regarding the type of items they can carry and their volume versus the size of the suitcase.

Most airlines allow you to board the plane with one personal item (which has to fit under the seat in front of you) and one carry-on bag.
However, there are others (usually lowcost) that request additional payment for that same bag.
There are also different rules regarding the size and weight of the bag allowed in the cabin.
So you should check the website of the company concerned to make sure you have the right bag and not taking the risk of it being sent to the hold, often for an extra fee.
Even if it is not checked into the hold, this small bag has restrictions on the contents to be carried, from sharp and/or flammable objects, but especially with regard to liquids.
As such, do not forget that shampoos, creams, perfumes, toothpaste, etc., cannot be more than 100 ml in volume each. With a maximum of 1000 ml, all packed in the same transport bag.
But let’s go in parts and explore these 5 tips.
Those who, like me, can travel for a month with only carry-on luggage and take “the house with them”, have to do an exercise of item rationalization to fit in what I affectionately call: the Tupperware!
Packing Cubes
They are, in my opinion, most likely the best invention ever in the traveler’s universe. Packing cubes allow you to organize your clothes and help keep them together inside your suitcase.
Who has never started a trip with an impeccably organized suitcase and in the middle of it had a sort of “a mini-tornado came by” and in the end could barely close the suitcase?!
The cubes allow you to organize your clothes by “parts”, i.e.: tops, bottoms, underwear, and so on.
Clothes
Select the clothes consistently and keeping in mind that: clothes that get dirty during the trip, can be washed during the trip.
When I say “select your clothes consistently”, I mean sorting through what is really essential. Do some research about what the weather will be like at the time of your trip and you will understand what kind of clothes to bring.
Keep in mind that the same pants can be worn several times. You can cut down on a few pieces here and there, and that if you take neutral colored clothes it is easier to put them together in terms of your look.
Let’s be honest, who doesn’t like to look good in pictures?
In addition, and for those like me who take only a handbag for trips of 1 month, there is always the possibility of washing clothes in the accommodation.
Either in their laundry rooms, when the option is available, or in the bathroom sink and drying in the room.
There are detergent sheets for sale that come in little packets, similar to the gelatine sheets used to make sweets. These are very practical and useful for those who don’t have a laundry room nearby.
They have the advantage of not taking up space in your luggage.
Or you can always use the soap that you take a shower with. The verb is: “manage”!
If you are traveling at a less warm time of year or to a destination with lower temperatures, my advice is to take the bulkier clothes, such as coats, sweaters and pants that take up more space.
Footwear
Carry the most bulky footwear on your feet, such as sneakers. In addition to being more comfortable during the flight, it allows you not to occupy the suitcase with more than necessary.
Thus, in the suitcase you gain space to put another type of less bulky footwear, such as flip flops, so often useful not only in beach destinations, but also for use in collective bathrooms.
Hygiene Products
With the inherent constraints of carrying liquids in hand luggage, it is necessary to rethink the products to be carried.
If possible, opt for solids. I leave you with the tip of the shampoos.
On the market there is already a wide range of solid shampoos that allow you to do without one of the liquid items and that are also more eco friendly because they do not have plastic packaging.
Buy the pack of bottles suitable for traveling,. This way you don’t get the wrong measures. Plus they also have the advantage of having labels that you can stick on for better identification of the contents of the bottle.
Miscellaneous
As a rule, I always take the extras in a specific bag so that nothing gets lost or spreads inside the suitcase.
“Extras” should be understood as all those that are part of the gadgets that do not go in the backpack (personal item that you can always take with you).
That’s where I put all the camera cables and chargers, triple socket plug, power adapter and such.
In conclusion
A well packed suitcase saves work and unnecessary junk. Sometimes we have the (wrong) idea that we need a lot of things for a vacation.
In reality, and when we return from our adventures, we find that this is not quite the case, and that in fact we have not even used half of what we took with us.
So luggage optimization is the trick to a more relaxed vacation!

Quem quer viajar apenas com bagagem de cabine, seja por uma questão de logística, seja para poupar algum dinheiro, depara-se muitas vezes com alguns constrangimentos, nomeadamente no que respeita ao tipo de itens que pode transportar e ao volume dos mesmos versus o tamanho da mala.
Na maioria das companhias aéreas é permitido entrar no avião com um item pessoal (que tem de caber debaixo do acento à vossa frente) e uma mala de mão.
No entanto, existem outras (normalmente lowcost) que solicitam pagamento adicional por essa mesma mala.
Há também regras diferentes no que diz respeito às medidas e peso da mala permitida na cabine. Convém consultar o site da companhia em causa para se certificarem de que levam a mala certa e não correrem o risco de esta ser enviada para o porão, muitas vezes com pagamento extra.
Ainda que não sendo despachada para o porão, esta pequena mala tem restrições sobre o conteúdo a transportar, desde objetos cortantes e/ou inflamáveis, mas especialmente no que respeita aos líquidos.
Como tal, não se esqueçam de que champôs, cremes, perfumes, pasta dos dentes, etc., não podem ter mais que 100 ml de volume cada. Tudo num máximo de 1000 ml, tudo acondicionado no mesmo saco de transporte.
Mas vamos por partes. Quem, como eu, consegue viajar 1 mês apenas com bagagem de mão e levar “a casa atrás”, tem que fazer um exercício de racionalização de itens para caber, naquilo a que eu carinhosamente chamo: o Tupperware!

Cubos de Organização
São, na minha opinião, muito provavelmente, a melhor invenção de sempre no universo de quem viaja. Os cubos permitem organizar a roupa e ajudam a mantê-la junta dentro da mala.
Quem nunca começou uma viagem com a mala impecavelmente organizada e a meio tinha uma espécie de “passou por aqui um minitornado” e no final mal conseguia fechar a mala?!
Os cubos permitem organizar a roupa por “partes”, ou seja: partes de cima, partes de baixo, roupa interior, e por aí em diante.
Roupa
Selecionar a roupa de forma coerente e tendo em mente que: roupa suja durante a viagem, pode ser lavada durante a viagem.
Quando digo “selecionar a roupa de forma coerente”, estou a referir-me a fazerem uma triagem daquilo que é realmente essencial.
Façam uma pesquisa sobre como estará o clima na altura da viagem e ficam a perceber que tipo de roupa levar.
Tenham em mente que as mesmas calças podem ser vestidas várias vezes, e como tal, podem reduzir aqui umas peças, e que, se levarem roupa de cores neutras, a sua conjugação é mais fácil em termos de look.
Sejamos honestos, quem não gosta de ficar bonito nos retratos?
Para além disso, e para quem como eu, leva apenas mala de mão para viagens de 1 mês, há sempre a possibilidade de lavar a roupa nos alojamentos.
Seja nas lavandarias dos mesmos, quando a opção estiver disponível, seja no lavatório da casa de banho e pondo a secar no quarto.
Existem à venda uma espécie de folhas de detergente que vêm nuns pacotinhos, parecidas com as folhas de gelatina usadas para fazer doces, que são muito práticas e uteis para quem não tem uma lavandaria por perto.
Têm a vantagem de não ocupar espaço na bagagem.
Ou podem sempre usar o sabonete com que tomam banho. O verbo é: desenrascar!
Se viajarem numa altura do ano menos quente ou para um destino com temperaturas mais baixas, o meu conselho é que levem a roupa de maior volume vestida, como sejam os casacos, camisolas e calças que ocupem mais espaço.
Calçado
Levem nos pés o calçado de maior volume, como por exemplo, sapatilhas. Para além de irem mais confortáveis durante o voo, permite-vos não ocupar a mala com mais do que o necessário.
Assim, na mala ganham espaço para colocar outro tipo de calçado menos volumoso, como sejam, chinelos de enfiar no dedo, tantas vezes uteis não só em destinos de praia, como também para frequentar balneários de utilização coletiva.
Produtos de Higiene
Com os constrangimentos inerentes ao transporte de líquidos na bagagem de mão, é necessário repensar os produtos a transportar.
Se for possível, optem por sólidos. Deixo-vos a dica dos champôs.
À venda no mercado já existe uma gama bastante variada de champôs sólidos que permitem abdicar de um dos itens líquidos e que são também mais amigos do ambiente por não terem embalagem de plástico.
Comprem o pack de frascos próprios para viagem, assim não se enganam nas medidas e os mesmos têm também a vantagem de trazer etiquetas que podem colar para melhor identificação do conteúdo do frasco.
Diversos
Por norma, levo sempre os extras num saco específico para que não se perca nada e nem se espalhem dentro da mala.
Por “extras” devem entender-se todos os que fazem parte dos gadgets que não vão na mochila (item pessoal que podem levar sempre convosco).
É lá que coloco todos os cabos e carregadores da máquina fotográfica, ficha de tomada tripla, adaptador de corrente e outros que tais.
Em conclusão
Uma mala bem arrumada poupa trabalho e tralha desnecessária.
Por vezes temos a ideia (errada) de que necessitamos de muita coisa para as férias, mas na verdade, e quando voltamos das nossas aventuras, verificamos que não é bem assim e que, de facto, nem usámos metade do que levámos.
Por isso, otimização de bagagem, é o truque para umas férias mais descontraídas!
