Exploring Afghanistan was like diving into a land of contrasts, where the harshness of the landscape blends with the gentleness of human gestures. Between isolated valleys and mountains that seem to touch the sky, I found a country that cannot be summed up in stereotypes, but rather in glances, smiles, and stories shared over a cup of hot tea. Every kilometer traveled on dusty roads was also a dive into time, in a land marked by centuries of tradition, faith, and resilience.
The hidden villages revealed themselves to be havens of simplicity, where hospitality knows no barriers, even taking into account the difficulties. There were moments of absolute silence, when the immensity of the mountains seemed to speak for itself, and others of intense dialogue, in which I learned more about courage, hope, and humanity than anywhere else in the world.
This adventure transformed me in ways that I am still trying to understand today. It was not just a trip, it was an encounter with the unexpected, with the unknown and, above all, with myself. It was from this experience that the book “Memórias do Afeganistão” (Memories of Afghanistan) was born, in which I share in detail the discoveries, emotions, and reflections that marked this unforgettable journey through the heart of the country.

Explorar o Afeganistão foi mergulhar num território de contrastes, onde a rudeza da paisagem se mistura com a delicadeza dos gestos humanos. Entre vales isolados e montanhas que parecem tocar o céu, encontrei um país que não cabe em estereótipos, mas sim em olhares, sorrisos e histórias partilhadas à volta de um chá quente. Cada quilómetro percorrido nas estradas poeirentas era também um mergulho no tempo, numa terra marcada por séculos de tradição, fé e resiliência.
As aldeias escondidas revelaram-se como refúgios de simplicidade, onde a hospitalidade não conhece barreiras, mesmo tendo em consideração as dificuldades. Houve momentos de silêncio absoluto, em que a imensidão das montanhas parecia falar por si, e outros de diálogo intenso, nos quais aprendi mais sobre coragem, esperança e humanidade do que em qualquer outro lugar do mundo.
Esta aventura transformou-me de formas que ainda hoje procuro traduzir. Não foi apenas uma viagem, foi um encontro com o inesperado, com o desconhecido e, acima de tudo, comigo mesma. Foi desta vivência que nasceu o livro “Memórias do Afeganistão”, onde partilho em detalhe as descobertas, emoções e reflexões que marcaram esta jornada inesquecível pelo coração do país.
